Deserts are lands of extremes with very hot daytime temperatures plunging dramatically by night-time. Deserts have a reputation of being barren of life, but in reality the tenacity of life prevails with many animals and plants being ingeniously adapted for survival in these tough conditions.

The awe inspiring undulating sand dunes of the Namib desert are a sight to behold and once out of the Namib-Naukluft park (a protected area) they also provide excitement for desert thrill seekers in the form of exhilarating sand boarding.
